I have too many Post-its that I have not addressed yet…

So I had Chinese food on Friday night. Or rather, I had left over Chinese food, which was still delicious, but not quite as delicious as it would have been, had I had it fresh out of the MSG doused bag. Anyway, the point of that story was that I had a fortune. Well, it was in a fortune cookie, but it wasn’t really a fortune, I’d call it more of a tidbit of wisdom. At the time I made a… not really joke to myself about how they should be called wisdom cookies instead, and then the next two cookies that I ate the next day were both fortunes – the good news is that I’ll always be surrounded by my true friends, and I will find great fortune. Back to my main topic, which was the original fortune: that fortune was:

My fortune

And this just got me to thinking, because it is really true. Everything is in your head. Perception is totally subjective, and possibly completely different for everyone.  At this point, my friend Sami would usually start rambling on about color perception, so here’s this:

I don’t remember where I got that from, and I couldn’t find the website where I got it from, so I’m sorry to all you copyright hungry fiends out there. If anyone knows where its from I’ll be more than happy to send a link, a shout-out, or ask permission or whatever to use it.

Anyway, I think I had a point, but I don’t remember. So with the whole all happiness is in the mind thing, that means it’s up to us about whether or not we’re happy. But we’ve been so conditioned, I guess, that we respond to all our surroundings with all these preprogrammed responses, whether it is to laugh, cry, be depressed, smile, or whatever.  And the back to the everyone having different perceptions of everything and such, it goes to explain how stupid so many people are. They just see the world a completely different way, they have their own viewpoints. Whenever we see a movie where we get to see through alien eyes or something and everything is infrared and blurry, maybe that’s how stupid people see, and why they’re stupid.

Everyone’s inability to fully understand that people see things completey different also gets thrown into the mix. So we have a lot of arguments, fights, wars, and shit like that. While I have seen no proof in the world that there is any god, supreme being, or anything, my parents have devoted their entire life to following and serving their God. I can’t understand this, or see how this works at all because I can’t read their minds or see things through their eyes. That’s why the saying “step into their shoes” never really works, because no matter if you try to put yourself in someone else’s situation, you’ll still always be seeing it from your mindset, and can never full ever understand someone else. I am a very empathetic person and usually do pretty well at understanding people and their motives, but I still will never be able to understand everything. I think the greatest invention ever would be a device that you lets you see something through someone else’s mind. That would be the craziest adventure, and most foreign thing you could ever be on, I believe, because no matter what foreign country or land you travel to, you’re still seeing it through your eyes, from your mind.

I also just finished reading Nineteen Eighty-Four, by George Orwell, and he deals with this topic a lot, and also discusses ways in which to change other peoples mindsets. It’s an excellent book, and one of those that I didn’t read when I didn’t take AP English in twelfth grade. So yeah.

So that’s just about that, my thoughts were probably even less organized in my mind, even though I had hoped to have more of a point and a direction with this post.

Also, I accidentally saw National Treasure 2 last night. It was just as unrealistic, improbable, and entertaining as the first one, and I really liked it, I love movies that require me not to think so that I can enjoy it. Having a blank mind, and just absorbing is lovely.

Ooh, and I just remembered what my main point for this post was going to be. If you can gain control of your mind, you can gain control of your happiness. And probably use The Force, and levitate too. So go meditate and shit.

Bonus Question: Prove to me that I exist. (it’s not really a question, I don’t care!)
