What I Wrote While Half Asleep in Math Class Today

April 30, 2008 at 2:57 pm (Rambling)

(Not edited at all from it’s 8am sleepiness)

I am drifting… in and out, in and out, as if my conciousness was the ocean at low tide, quietly lapping at the sand. The seagulls lazily glide around in the sunrise, gently soaring through the sunrise, seemingly mocking me and my lack of sleep. In the background of my mind, or perhaps the foreground and I’m just in the background, my math professor rambles all old-man-like, because he is an old man.

Yawn…

In real life right now, everything is blurry. Blurry rhymes with furry. I like bunnies. I think I skipped a step in that string of word associations. Funnies are blurry… That’s it, or something.

I want to be famous, like a rockstar or actor or politician. And then I want to screw up and not apologize to the world or my fans. I’ll punch paparazzi only if they deserve it. But so help me God, when they deserve it they’re going to get it.

Trying not to fall asleep… How do they expect us not to sleep through this stuff? I mean honestly, I know that I’m lazy and often too tired, but professors should be more exciting or stimulating or whatever.

Right now I’m only thinking with three brain cells, so it’s all good…

Goodnight…

The Best of My Bookmarks: Part I

April 29, 2008 at 12:06 am (links) ()

So I got a little bored of stumbling this evening and decided to go through my bookmarks (which is grossly obeise with all of the things I’ve saved from stumbling) and I realized that it desperately needs to be cleaned out, so I’m going to be giving you the links to all the things that make the cut and get to stay in it. Depending on how lazy I feel as I do this I’ll even give you a short description of what the site is about. Enjoy:

Think Geek - I’m absolutely positive that I’ve linked to Think Geek before, but for those who don’t know, this site is fairly fantastically excellent. This has all the little gadgets that you always wanted but didn’t know existed. When I get really rich this is going to be one of the first places I splurge. If you’re saving up money, lock up your wallet, then go take a look around.

a beautiful revolution - This blog/website/whatever else it might be is a fairly depressing, almost always interesting site in which Andre Jordan spills his heart, mind, and soul into letters, pictures, cards, postcards, et cetera. Look around, there’s a lot of stuff to see.

Nice Shorts - Nice Shorts has some fairly fantastic short films. While it also has many mediocre, and even some bad ones, the really good ones shine out. And they also are all rated and show how many views they are, so if you want to avoid the bad ones just don’t watch them. Be prepared to have an afternoon or so off when you go to this site, because it really knows how to suck you in.

Encyclopedia of Life - EOL is like the Wikipedia of living things, but more closely moderated. It lets pretty much anyone put in content, but it is also watched over by professionals. It’s a pretty excellent site to look around if you’re interested in natural type stuff, or if you need any help with an idea for a biology project. It’s still a work in progress, but it’s moved along a lot since I first discovered it last spring.

Starcraft II - Starcraft II is the next computer game that I am actually excited about. I’ve been playing Starcraft since 1999 or 2000 and it is hands down my favorite computer game ever. It’s pretty much the best RTS, despite being 12 years old. And now the long awaited sequal is finally in it’s worked. I get all giddy and school girl-like every time I think about it.

one word - This is an excellent website for writers, and anyone, actually. It gives you one word and then gives you sixty seconds to write about it. The results are then posted on the website, they’re fun to go through and read and see the different points of views and ways that people see things. It’s great when you have writer’s block, because it can really jumpstart the brain.

This one doesn’t really have a title - But it’s a directory that let’s you download the pdfs of a bunch of Asimov books as well as some other science fiction authors. I normally wouldn’t recommend this website, since the design is yucky, and it’s lame. But it’s got some nice content, just the same.

WordSplay - This was formerly known as WeBoggle and what got me through my senor year of high school. It’s online Boggle and it’s a lot of fun. You can play in teams, or alone, and compare yourself to other people who are playing. Check it out, it’s great for procrastination and other non-work related things.

Social Wallpapering - Just another Web 2.0 site that’s pretty awesome. It aims to give you the best free desktop wall papers possible. So whether you want to show off your artastic wallpaper skills or get some sweet wallpapers, this is the site for you.

IMPS - The Relentless - First and foremost I am a Star Wars nerd, that is the first nerdiness I have ever been exposed to and is still the one that is closest to my heart. This is from the people who brought you TROOPS, the Star Wars Cops parody you never knew you needed to see. Currently IMPS only has 1 out of 7 planned episodes done, but it’s pretty fantastic. They’re doing amazing work, and they’re doing it from their own pockets for no reimbursment so they can take their time.

Expiration Clothing - This online t-shirt shop was actually started by a friend of a friend of a friend (or rather a friend’s brother’s friend, or something like that) and I haven’t seen anything new added on in months, but what they have right now is pretty cool. So give them your money for some nice t-shirts.

Block Posters - I’ve never actually used this site, but I still think it’s pretty awesome. It lets you upload a picture of any size and then makes it into a file so that your printer will be able to print it out in pieces and then hang all of the individual sheets up on the wall to make the big picture, with a very cool looking result. Best of all, it’s free! Aside from the ever-expensive ink and paper, that is.

shopliftwindchimes - Another site that I’m sure I’ve blogged about before, shopliftwindchimes is the website of poet Rives, who is my favorite spoken word poet ever. His blog, a bunch of his poems, and movies are on the site. He’s really pretty awesome with words, so definitely check him out.

Molo Design - It’s kind of hard to really explain what Molo Design is about. They have some pretty awesome designs and products though, so go look around the site.

Nathan Sawaya: The Art of the Brick - I’m also a giant Lego nerd, and Nathan Sawaya is one of my personal heroes. He makes fantastic Lego art. If you’ve ever liked or even thought about liking Legos, check out his site.

Street Stickers - Make your own “Hello My Name is” stickers that say whatever you want. It’s free, all you need to do is provide the ink and labels.

Entrepreneur.com - As everyone who reads this may or may not know, I eventually want to go into business for myself doing something. I’m currently not up to that stage in my life, but I hope to be sometime in the not-too-distant future. When I do, this site will be around to help. It’s got all sorts of resources for entrepreneurs and business people of any type.

“Non Subject” - That was the title up on the blue bar… This is just a collection of some really pretty and awesome pictures.

Picsyard - Top 40 Prettiest Pictures - The title really says it all. But they really are pretty. And there really are forty.

Nerdy Shirts - Lots of nerdy t-shirts. This is a website that I wish I had started… oh well. Most of the shirts are really expensive though… Which is probably the number one reason I haven’t bought anything from there before. But they still have some good t-shirts!

Empire City Garrison - Hey, remember the time when I’m a huge Star Wars nerd? Well, there’s more Star Wars nerdier people out there. This is the website of the local stormtrooper garrison here in new york.

eBook Giant - I love to read. I prefer to read the old fashioned way though, with paper and ink and such, but who can really say no to over 17,000 free electronic books? Maybe I just need an industrial printer…

The Pirate Bay - The Pirate Bay is the best place to download any torrents of any kind, from movies, to music, to applications… anything. Check it out. If you’re using Limewire or BearShare or any of those other silly virus ridden things don’t. Go download BitTorrent and start using The Pirate Bay for all your piracy needs.

And although I’m only a little bit less than a fifth of the way through my bookmarks I am going to have to call it a night. I’ll make this part one of the series and give you so more links in the next couple of days.

Also, I’ll have a surprise for you tomorrow!

Pineapple

April 21, 2008 at 1:49 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , , , )

Pineapples… Pineapples are pretty.

Ananas comosus, if you prefer the Latin.

See, Pineapples are prickly, but they don’t sting a bit.

And apparently, according to Wikipedia, pineapples used to be pine cones and pine cones didn’t become become pine cones until pineapples were discovered. Europeans are silly like that.

So, picture this:

is a pineapple, and

Drawp it like it’s Hawt

April 18, 2008 at 4:04 pm (Uncategorized) (, , , )

So here I am at work blogging from my phone….
Word, son.
Today started as not such a good day, progressed to worse of a day, jumped up to a fantastic day, and now is back to a good day. That is acceptable. I’m smiling, so that’s cool, and work hasn’t been bad so far, apart from the one customer who I had to help for about half an hour who was nice, but most definitely annoying.

So yeah, only approximately three weeks of school left, so that is pretty fantastic. And then Summertime and the livin’s easy.
Next week I am only working twelve hours, which is pretty darn excellent. I plan to spend time being inspired and writing and such, and maybe I can finally start updating regularly again and go back up to an average of fourty or so people a day from the current twenty (which I love you, my loyal fans! you rock!).

I think that’s it for right now, maybe I’ll be back with more later or something like. So peace out, rock on, and smile!

If you were a cupcake

April 14, 2008 at 11:12 pm (Uncategorized) (, )

I would probably eat you. And not because I’m hungry. It’s just because I like cupcakes. Really.

So for those of you who were wondering, my life is still fairly alive, and most definitely living, and such.

I’m still hooked on oxygen, food, and reproduction. Which are like the three key things to life, and such.

(note: I know that those aren’t really the three key things to life, I just wanted to disappoint my tenth grade Bio teacher.)

On that note: Dodgeball

I used to play a lot of dodgeball, back in my church days. I’d play like once a week, unfortunately I don’t any more, and I miss it. It was the only sport I was ever really good at, not just average, and I really had an awesome time playing.

I’ve been Googling it to see if I can find any local chapters and groups, but so far no real luck. Although I did sign up to start getting information on try outs for a pro dodgeball team, that would be a pretty awesome experience.

But anyway, I guess what I really want to say is if anyone in the Long Island/New York City area is in a dodgeball league, or interested in starting one (or if not even league, than casual group and such) then get in contact with me and let me know what’s up.

cool.
